Pecha Kucha Greenville - Volume 2 7:30pm - 11:00pm at the Warehouse Theatre. Pecha Kucha Night in Greenville is where you can come and learn about just about anything - 6 minutes and 40 seconds at a time. Seriously. Art. Medicine. Food. Graphics. Architecture. Anything under the sun. Each presenter is allowed 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds each - giving 6 minutes 40 seconds of fame before the next presenter is up. This keeps presentations concise, the interest level up, and gives more people the chance to show. Pecha Kucha Greenville continues it's mission of expanding Greenville's creative mindset. Kelly Lowry of Global Bike, Inc. Lecture and Film 7:00pm at Glendale Outdoor Leadership School (GOLS), Spartanburg. Started by six friends, Globalbike, Inc. is a project based in Spartanburg, SC with the sole mission of providing community care workers in the developing world with locally made bicycles. Come listen first hand to their inspiring story about how the power of one can bloom and help change the world. A short film about the reconciliation process in Rwanda entitled Wounded Healers will be shown illustrating the sense of optimism and healing that is underway — a truly wonderful thing considering the horror of the past. Globalbike,Inc. is providing bicycles to Rwandan Partners to allow “Reconciliation Ambassadors” to travel from village to village to actively assist in the process of healing the societal and personal wounds caused by the genocide in Rwanda. These bicycles will make it possible for the Ambassadors to travel much more efficiently and quickly to perform this difficult and critical task. Sips for Snips 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Saffron’s Sidewalk Café. Sips for Snips is a fun, upscale event created by the Greenville Humane Society to help raise funds for our spay/neuter program. Each ticket provides the holder with admission to the fundraiser emceed by Upstate celebrity Stacie Bartro from Magic 98.9, heavy hors d’oeuvres, 2 drink tickets (for beer or wine), and access to a Silent Auction and great live music. For anyone who would like additional drinks during the evening, a cash bar is available. Mountain Bridge Wilderness service outing with Sierra Club 9:00am at the Jones Gap Park HQ. The objective of this service project is to improve and preserve the existing Hospital Rock trail at Jones Gap State Park in order to assure that it is safe for use by future hikers and so it can become part of the Palmetto Trail. The morning work session will last until the noon lunch break. Each worker should bring their own lunch and water. Lunch break will last about 30 minutes. Banff Mountain Film Festival presented by Half Moon Outfitters 7:00pm - 10:00pm at Camelot Cinemas. The Banff Mountain Film Festival celebrates its 35th Anniversary in October-November 2009. Situated in the vast Canadian Rockies in Banff, Alberta, Canada, the festival celebrates mountain film culture. After the festival, which brings thousands to these majestic mountains, the films go on a world tour. Last year, Half-Moon Outfitters hosted the world tour stops in Columbia, South Carolina and Greenville, South Carolina. Join the Interpretive Ranger on a hike to Mountain Lake and beyond, up and over the mountain, as we travel the entire Sulphur Springs Trail. 3rd Annual Lawn Mower Exchange 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m in the Whole Foods parking lot. Greenville County is inviting all of its residents, in the incorporated and unincorporated areas, to participate in its 3rd Annual Lawn Mower Exchange event (LME). To make this year’s event appeal to an even larger audience, a compost bin sale will be coupled with the lawn mower exchange. This event is part of the clean air public education campaign in South Carolina’s Upstate region. Lawn mower manufacturers and/or authorized dealers will be available on-site to sell environmentally friendly lawnmowers and garden equipment. Residents wanting to trade their old gasoline-powered lawnmowers for non-gasoline-powered lawnmowers will receive an $80-voucher good toward purchasing a new mower a discounted price (per the manufacturer). The voucher is valid for the LME event only. The number of $80-vouchers is limited to 125; therefore, vouchers will be given on a first come, first served basis. Compost bins will also be sold at a discounted price (per the distributor), while supplies last. Sales will begin promptly at 9:00am.

Blacksmith Bruce Mills will be working at the forge, Gardener Tim Foster will be tending the vegetable garden, and, after 1:00 pm, "Dr. Andrew B. Moore" (Dr. Jeff Willis) will be offering 18th century treatments for what ails you. Tours of the Plantation will be available throughout the day. Bring a picnic lunch and make a day of it!
